Bronze scabbard runner

Bronze scabbard runner. This piece of metal was used to attach a soldier's scabbard to his belt; and could have been property of either a legionary or an auxiliary soldier. Scabbard runners came in a number of different designs, this example cast in the shape of a dolphin, is of an elaborate design dating to the 3rd Century AD.
